North West Cambridgeshire MP Sam Carling has called for greater investment in the Ortons  as part of Labour’s Plan for Neighbourhoods to support improved local services, safer streets and stronger communities.

Speaking in the community, Sam said:

“Orton has suffered a lack of investment for too long. Residents deserve safer streets, better services, and more opportunities for young people, and I will continue pushing for the resources our area needs.”

Underfunding of services and limited opportunities for economic growth under previous Conservative governments has seen Orton’s potential limited and fostered various challenges in the community.  Carling highlighted the potential benefits of further government support, which could help fund areas such as:

  • The development and improvement of local infrastructure
  • Improved street safety and community policing initiatives
  • New opportunities and activities for young people and families

This statement is part of Carling’s ongoing work to ensure that local priorities are heard at the national level – and that residents in North West Cambridgeshire can benefit from the very real improvements in the community that opportunities such as the Plan for Neighbourhoods fund can provide. Crucially, Plan for Neighbourhoods puts the priorities of the community at the very heart of what is delivered.
