This weekend marks two years since the 2024 General Election. It is a real privilege to represent North West Cambridgeshire in Parliament, and I’d like to thank everyone who has taken the time to get in touch, attend one of my events or share their views over the past two years.
North West Cambridgeshire is a wonderfully diverse constituency, stretching from communities across southern Peterborough to many of Cambridgeshire’s rural villages. That means representing a wide range of communities, each with its own opportunities and challenges, and making sure their voices are heard in Parliament.
Representing our area is about much more than what happens in Westminster. A large part of my job is helping residents navigate everyday problems, supporting local organisations and making sure the issues affecting our communities are heard in Parliament. Since being elected, my office has helped thousands of residents with individual casework, while I’ve continued to visit schools, businesses, charities and community groups across North West Cambridgeshire to hear directly about the opportunities and challenges they face.
At the same time, I’ve been working to make sure our area benefits from the changes our Labour Government is delivering.
That has meant securing investment in our communities through initiatives like Pride in Place, standing up for local bus services, supporting improvements to schools and healthcare, and working with local organisations to bring investment and opportunity to our area.
Nationally, we’re beginning to see the impact of those decisions, too.
After years in which economic growth stalled and public services were stretched to breaking point, the economy is growing again, wages are rising, NHS waiting lists have fallen by more than 400,000, and we’verecruited thousands more GPs, teachers and neighbourhood police officers. Families are also benefiting from measures to help with the cost of living, including higher minimum wages, lower household energy billsand free breakfast clubs for children.
Here in North West Cambridgeshire, that national investment is already making a difference. We’ve seen record funding for children with SEND, investment in local NHS services, stronger rights for workers, and support for projects that will improve our communities for years to come.
Of course, there is still plenty more to do.
Residents rightly expect improvements to local transport, healthcare, housing and public services to continue, and I know there are still many challenges facing families across our area. My job is to keep making the case for North West Cambridgeshire and to ensure our communities continue to benefit from the opportunities that lie ahead.
Over the past two years, I’ve always tried to be a visible and accessible local MP, whether that’s through my regular Coffee & Chat events, visiting organisations across the constituency or helping residents resolve problems in their daily lives.
Thank you again for placing your trust in me. It remains a privilege to represent North West Cambridgeshire, and I look forward to continuing that work in the years ahead.
